Sankofa is an exaggerated mix of different life experiences with and through friends, family, and lovers. The Akan word, Sankofa, means to go back and reclaim our past in order to move forward; so we understand why and how we came to be who we are today. Inspired by four friends whose families won the Diversity Lotto Program in 1988 and traveled from the tropical climate of Ghana, West Africa to the infamous city of New York. No one said life in a new world was going to be easy but no one also said it was going to be tricky. How do you adapt to a new way of life while remaining true to the old?
